I'm above the salary cap (300k $): if i cut a player now, he will be cut at the next free agency sim. But does it mean that a player (my player with highest salary cap value) will be automatically cut BEFORE the one player i choose to cut, or are the Automatics Cuts by the AI made before the cuts i've chosen? Hope it's understandable...

To make it simplier:
To NOT have my highest salary cap player automatically cut:
-do i need to trade to fix the salary cap BEFORE the Late Free Agency Sim
-or just cut a player (with salary cap value sufficient to go below the salary cap) and wait for the sim?

You actually have until the first pre-season game to get your salary cap fixed, so you have plenty of time to get your financial house in order. You will see the warning banner until it's fixed, but the AI won't make those cuts until the first pre-season game and then only if you are still over the salary cap.

The other part of your question which bears mentioning, if your next stage was the first pre-season game and you were at a risk of the AI cutting your highest-paid player to get you under the cap, any cuts you have set up will take place first - so if that were to bring you under the cap then the AI will do nothing. The AI only makes those cut(s) if, after processing all that you have queued, you still violate the salary cap or the roster limit on a stage that it checks (game stage for both, training camp for roster limit only).

Can I jump on this thread with another question:
If I wait until training camp to see how my draft picks progress, can I still cut them at that stage with no salary cap penalty? Or do I have to do it beforehand

They get the signing/salary bonus when they sign the contract with you... before they goto training camp.

I don't think that's correct. I think you can still "Void Contract" before training camp.

I've done this and I get a message saying that because this player was just drafted, there will be no salary cap impact.

I think this option disappears once training camp begins.

This is correct - you can't take a draft pick into training camp without assuming the risk of the bonus. You can void a draft pick with no cap penalty until he hits training camp.

What about trades? If you trade players during pre-season game 1 time-slot, do those trades help reduce your salary-cap defecit before the computer nukes your team?

Trades take affect as soon as they're accepted.

Yes, and the impact on your cap is identical to if you cut the player.
