Is there a throw away option?

When QB scrambles outside the tackle box is there an option for him to throw it away rather than take a sack?
I have seen some throw aways but other times not so much. Is this based on QB intelligence?

Yeah it hurts watching a qb scramble to the top or bottom and get an additional 4-5 seconds to pass and still end up taking a sack

It is there but I do have a ticket in to make it happen more.

What I would like to see as a "fix" for this: Introduce the Intentional Grounding penalty. Make QBs throw it away more often when scrambling outside the box. Make less intelligent and/or inexperienced QBs more inclined to 'force' throws (ala Jay Cutler, Rex Grossman, Brett Favre, etc; gunslingers ho!).

wow did you just group Cutler and Grossman with Farve? Cause im pretty sure those two together worthy enough to carry Farve's jock. Oooooooooooh snap Bear fans... :)

In all fairness (as a Bears fan myself), I cringed when we picked up both of those losers. I haven't liked Grossman since his days at UF, and Cutler... well, don't even get me started on that F-tard.
But the point was that they all have the gunslinger mentality. And don't forget that Favre holds the all-time record for picks by a QB (or at least he did fairly recently). Romo fits into that category as well, which is fitting since Favre was his idol growing up.

Also tough to see a QB with high a scrambling attribute, dither about throwing and take the sack, when he could take off up field for for yardage,he just waits to be sacked.

This could also be a indicator on the QB`s Intelligence...to avoid the sack, do I throw it away or run downfield?

Not sure if intelligence is the deciding factor here as I had a QB on one of my teams with 92 intelligence take the sack twice today outside the tackle box.
Fields of vision, lack of familiarity with offensive or defensive play shouldn't be a factor in a throw away either. In fact, throwing it away when in doubt would be preferred, especially when facing a sack.

Intelligence seems to play no role in this, I have a QB with 77 scramble, 100 int and 99 speed that never takes off and runs, he almost always takes the sack in that situation.
