missed field goal ends up giving opponent extra yards to start

In private 75, my Field goal kicker missed two field goals on 4th down. Nothing looked out of the ordinary at first when I saw the opponent with the ball on 1st down, until I looked where they were starting..

My kicker attempted the FG at the 4 yard line and missed where as the opponent got to start at the 20 like it was a touchback?? They practically gained 15 yards from where I kicked the field goal!

It happened twice as well. I don't believe that is a rule in the NFL where a missed Field Goal inside the 20 results in the opponent starting at the 20 regardless of field position during the FG attempt.

Am I missing something here? Despite the blowout loss, this irritated me the most lol

This is a rule in the NFL.

If the kick is attempted from inside the 20 and missed, the other team gets the ball at the 20. If it's outside the 20, the other team gets the ball from where the kick was attempted (not the line of scrimmage).
