Out of curiosity, is there a compelling reason why the salary cap isn't static in MFN? In real life it raises due to increased league revenue/inflation/etc, but we don't experience those things here... so wouldn't it make more sense to just keep the cap at a fixed rate? Especially since the amount we can offer FAs doesn't expand in relation to the cap.

One extended impact of having the cap increase each year is that the bonus for each player does -not- go up each year, giving you a benefit to making those long-term contracts vs the negative impact of cutting the player before the last year of his contract.

72 s #1 making 2.5 mil. Now i really get it. But the model is off, but it is correct in that regard. I assumed the # 1 would have been alot higher. I see. Sorry for the confusion.

Still, this enhances my the balancing value of the other suggestion .

The #1 overall is not higher because I don't want your cap to get clobbered if you have the #1 overall pick. Hopefully if you make a good selection you have until the end of his contract to make sure you have enough cap space to cover his signing.
