So in an effort to display just how broken hot reads are I set up a gameplan this spin to force a ton of them:

He literally has two completely uncovered players dead ahead of him... and instead throws to the blocking RB who only happens to be open because the pocket broke down due to the sideways scrambling.

Hot reads again to a blocker who only gains positive yards because he got so badly beaten. Note to self: use terrible blockers in the future.

The hot read has effectively struck out two defensive plays that I've seen, but is otherwise hot trash. I chose this set of plays specifically because the two plays on offense I was calling versus the single play the defense was calling natively have 4 WRs versus 3 DBs in coverage. By default there is always one uncovered player. The hot read however hijacks the play so the QB can never target the uncovered players, instead defaulting to a blocker
every single time. This happens for a lot of so-called 'hot reads', and on the hot reads where the defense DOES have enough in coverage it usually fires it straight into tight coverage. Simply put, they don't work, they don't improve the game, they don't counter blitzing AT ALL, and they need to go back to the beta leagues.
