Re: A couple (?) of logic issues...

Had a couple game logic issues that seemed quizzical tonight in the roster-only league...

1 -- First play of the 2nd quarter, 3rd and 7 opponent has ball deep in own territory and gets whistled for an offensive pass interference penalty The result of the play was an incomplete pass which would have made it 4th and 7 and gotten me the ball back. The computer instead accepts the penalty allowing opponent a try at 3rd and 17, which they of course convert. I don't see a reason why the AI would opt to accept the penalty in this scenario.

2 (?) -- Trailing 9-0 with 49 seconds and zero time outs left in the game, we're 4th and 3 at the opponents' 30...it's not a high probability scenario for winning in either event, but wouldn't the prudent move be to attempt the FG and take your chances with an onside kick? The AI opts to have me go for it. We fail to convert and opponent kneels out the clock. Earlier this pre-season in the same league I was trailing 15-0, scored a TD to make it 15-6, and the game attempted a 2-point conversion. Since it's a roster-only league, I don't think either of these choices can be the product of settings I can control since there's no access to the game planning menu. I'm also assuming there's no coaching attribute that creates some of these decisions that a player can look at if he wants to minimize them (and if there is, someone tell me!!). They just both seem like very odd end-game logic based on conventional wisdom that would say to get things to a one-score game before rolling the dice.
