Hiring Coaches..

By Coach Pappy

Took over a team midseason and now it's the start of the next season. Need to hire some coaches and would like to upgrade some coaches but I get a warning that I do not have enough cash even for their base contract whenever I try to hire any coach. 1.) If I upgrade a coach which will fire a current coach, will the fired coaches contract still count against me? 2.) what do I do about replacing coaches who left but I don't have the cash to hire a replacement?

Coaches are not like players, once a coach is fired his salary is off your books. The calculator is using the worst case scenario (i.e. if you are replacing all coaches it is assuming that the one replacing the highest salary will reject the contract). You can go ahead and submit the offers, if they don't work out you don't have any penalty, but if you can make the offers without the warning you are in a better position to have them accepted.

If the coaches are unemployed, you don't have to offer what they ask for. Some leagues have position coach salaries out of whack, so make sure you're not overpaying them.

ok my OC retired. I have 24 M under cap and I need 16M for draft players that leave me with 7 or 8 M free. when I got to offer contract to an OC there is a window that tells me that I don't have enough cash flow to this offer. my offer is about 2 M and I have 7 plus M free like I said above. don't know what is that cash flow that is being mentioned. I want to ask before I do something that I will regret, this is my first free agent experience in this game and I want to upgrade some areas of my team with better player but is hire a coach will put me in debt right away... then what?

I assuming that money from hiring coaching have to come from somewhere in your team otherwise everybody would 've have the best coaches per position in the market without thinking about their contract value. where does the money for hiring coach come from?

The amount of money available to sign coaches is dependent upon your attendance figures, which are dependent upon your won-loss record and, I think, the attractiveness of your opponents.

ok thank u. I don't know how much money available I have for hiring coaches to be honest. that financial part should've been displayed somewhere anyway, and if it does not matter, then the warning message before the offering to the coach should be eliminated. and problem resolve

Heres my 2 cents .. Position coaches dont make that much of a difference in development. Since they are poachable year to year i always offer 2 yrs minimum salary $150k or so for a fringe 60 rated or so position coach. This leaves me with plenty of money to focus on head coach and coordinators.

Also, if you are wanting to fire your head coach and promote a coordinator, just offer the coordinator less than the head coach. Cap works itself out that way ..

MFN-20

For the duration of free agency I have been trying to get an OC, easy you'd think as nearly EVERYONE who is not an OC, HC or DC will be available . Not so.
The only coaches I can offer a job to are unemployed. Tempted to just not bother this season.
This does not work on either interface.

I think if they've been hired this season, you're not allowed to offer them a contract. Try looking at worse positional coaches.
