Re: Question about Draft order

I am preparing for my first ever draft in MFN-83 and have a question about draft order.
In the first round I am #11 due to W/L record. But in the later rounds I am R2#13, R3#12, R4#11, R5#13, R6#12, and R7#11
I understand that trades between other teams effect their drafting order, but should I not be #11 for each round, barring any trades between another team and myself. Please help me understand.

great question.. seems like they "snake" the draft.. meaning teams flip flop spots..why they do this idk.. and would like to know also..i have noticed in most of my leagues the #1 and 2 picks.. stay put..But in others #2 and #3 are snaked.

If you finished the season with the same record as other teams, the positions will flip in each round. If you pick earlier in rd 1, you'll pick later in rd 2 among teams that had the same W/L as you.

This is how the draft works in the NFL, too. So if you have any questions, just look up those rules. But in brief, non-playoff teams are assigned draft order based off win/loss record. In the case of a tie, the teams are ordered via strength of schedule, with those possessing the easiest SoS drafting before those with a harder SoS. If a tie persists, I believe it then goes to conference opponent records, then divisional opponent records, and then a coin flip.

In all subsequent rounds, all teams with the same W/L record will revolve up one spot, with whoever was selecting first in the group going to the last position. In other words, if two teams both had 2-14 records, the aforementioned tie breakers would decide their order for the first round. Then in each subsequent round they would flip back and forth in draft position. If three teams had tied, then after the first round, the team choosing first would move back two spots, and the other teams would both advance one. And so on and so forth.

As a Browns fan, I've come accustomed to learning draft position and order tiebreakers. It's all we got.

Q: How do you know the Ohio State Police are seriously enforcing the Speed Limits into Cleveland.
A: For the first offense, they give you two Browns tickets. If you get stopped a second time, they make you use them.
