The former owner of the USFL/WFL's Houston Gamblers cut his entire roster and signed a bunch of (horrible) free agents. I removed him as owner and, with the help of my league coaches, I was able to reclaim from the waiver wire all the players he cut.

But, what is left is $243.4 million in used cap for next season, $190.9 million of that being dead cap. Our league payroll for next season will be less than $170 million. AND, he has a whole bunch of extra draft picks next season from various trades.

I am planning to trade all of those picks for future picks (again, with the help of my league coaches). But I know I will still need to make some moves to get under next season's salary cap.

Do any of you have any ideas other than trading or cutting all of this team's best players?

I am planning to take over this franchise next season unless someone out there wants a REAL challenge.

The problem will be the dead cap > the max cap. Basically, you have to cut the whole team and sign players for minimum contracts for a year, and then completely rebuild it.

So, this guy ultimately accomplishes what he intended -- to completely ruin the franchise.

Call me crazy, or masochistic, but I'd take over a team someone totally ruined just to see if I could rebuild them from the ground up. I'm a noob to this game however. Maybe that's too much pain to endure, but then again, I'm a Raiders fan.

You can take this one over after next season if you basically want to run an allocation team in the middle of a seasoned league. I probably should run it for one more season to clear out the cap though.
