Determining proper player evaluation is the first key activity. You need to set your attribute weights to accurately reflect the value of your players. Setherick's document is a great place to start:

Thank you, very interesting document .... just wondering how accurate are these weights compared to the recommended weights cause half of my roster is ready to be fired now....

You can search the forums by topic and find helpful advice from setherick on almost every topic. It's a good starting point. As you become more familiar with MFN and the type of team you want to assemble, you can adjust those weights to more accurately reflect their values to your team.

Before you do that, spend some time making sure you understand how salaries and dead cap work. The worst thing you can do is start cleaning up a team only to put it in a bad cap situation.

This is a good set of beginner weights stills, but I would read my most recent post on weights as well. I've started to make radical adjustments to these so that my weights emphasize key attributes that a player will struggle if they do not have.

In addition to all of the above, would suggest you look at the rosters of the top 3 or 4 teams in your league, the ones that had the best season records and were in the CC games. You will most likely find a commonality, as I did when I first started playing MFN, with respect to their roster composition and the ratings/key attributes of their starting players.

the other thing that is good to do is to look at the season player stats and see what the best players at their positions have in common when it comes to their attributes.

Do not evaluate a player by their MFN default values and/or their trade meter values, those are indicators but usually not accurate as to the "true value" of a player. Ive had RBs that were top 5 in their league statistically that were rated less than 60 and had trade values less than 20. As setherick mentioned above, a players "key" attributes are the most important consideration when evaluating them, and I also like to look at their career stats to date, if they have any.

It is a great game....do stick around !

For me, I am actually shocked that there is no "mentor" program for newcomers. My first recommendation (and I am by no means an experienced member) would be to get to know some of the successful coaches that are willing to help out others....particularly those new to the game.

I would not hesitate in contacting some coaches like;

Bryson, Smirt, Grandad, Sethrick (very much in demand for advice)...and I'm sure there are tons others that I have not listed here. It's a very good starting point, and you can learn an awful lot from others.

I suppose, in short....be active on the forums, ask Q's.....lean on coaches that are willing to help you. I find that if I have a tasking Q about anything in the game, Bryson & Grandad normally reply VERY quickly to aid.

I hope I've not insulted other experienced coaches on this....these are the only coaches I've asked.

Hope this helps you out.

The Parody Football League is set up with assigned mentors per conference. There are currently 4 openings.
