I'm coming to America!!

Woohoo - my wife's very kindly bought me tickets for my birthday! Only time I can get over which clashes with the season is the half-term in Oct. She's got me tickets for two games: Sun 22nd Patriots v Falcons and Mon 23rd Eagles v Redskins. So happy!! :))))))
Staying two nights in Boston, then nights in Phillie.

So, I have many many questions for you wisened old-spectators of this game but I'll save them for another time as I'm so buzzing!!

The guy she organised it all through made a throw-away comment about the Eagles fans being very passionate....so I googled this late last night then spent the next hour reading articles and seeing videos of all sorts of stuff which made me go "EEk!". From what I hear, as a neutral I shouldn't get into any trouble and generally NFL games are safer than 'soccer' games over here where we have to separate the fans - but I'd love to hear your honest thoughts on this - will I need a stab-proof vest basically!!? Or will I be safe as long as I don't dress as Santa or in Giants jerseys!?!

Got tickets to a tail-gate party too but not really much idea about this - it said food is all-inclusive?! But from what I can see it's a massive party in the car park - so I don't get the all-inclusive bit?!

Then, the next article was about the nickname Killadelphia!! Ah, great!! But I hear that as long as I stay clear of Rocky Balboa's North Phillie I'll be ok!! :O

Any of you lot from Boston or Phillie?!

Are all fans that go to the games mad-drunk and crazy fools like on the YouTube videos or will there be any boring old blokes like me there too?!!?

Anyway, any of your thoughts on my little trip would be appreciated.

jh

I know the old Eagles stadium had a jail .. if that tells you anything. I don't know if the new one does or not! Lol

Congrats!! When I get the kiddos out of the house, I'm hoping to travel to England at some point.

I'm from Boston area and a Patriots season ticket holder..

You are better off Flying/staying in Providence,RI. Gillette Stadium (pats home) is about 40 mins closer than if you stay in Boston..and probably cheaper to fly to. also Route 95 is right there in Providence which will take you all the way to Philadelphia. (shorter distance too)

Cheers and Grats on your trip! Ill be at the Falcons game maybe we can meet up. section 114 row 5 seats 1 & 2

Thanks dash! :) I'll check out my tickets tomorrow - think I'm high up - 3rd row from heaven I think!

Logistics and transport already done by wife so least I haven't gotta fix it all bless her :)

I hear Boston is nice place so should be good to catch a college football match on tv in a sports pub/bar on first sat night :)

Wow, bold going to a game in Philly.

Philly is known (whether it's true or not) as having arguably the rowdiest fans in America across all sports.

Here's the infamous Bill Burr rant about Philly if you want the short version (NSFW Language):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jMhoGUiIkk

A few of us went to Boston for a week and took in 3 ballgames Sox vs KC a few years back.
The food was great, the pub/bars were great, we wanted to drink at a real Irish pub and were
directed to one, everything was fine until a buddy ordered a real Irish brew! It was black, thick,
a little scary, he takes a drink, sputters holy **** spits it on the table! Well a few of the old guys
stand up from there chairs, mean looking and some kind of large! I said, he means no disrespect he has never been able to drink good beer and would like to buy you all a round, all
was good! The Sam Adams Brewery tour was great as well! You should have a fine time, hope you enjoy and have a safe trip!
