This is probably the worst advice right now. You need elite OL right now to keep DEs from completely destroying your QB - even then it'll be frustrating. But, more importantly, you'll want to start collecting a strong OL now so that when the code changes roll out to all leagues, you won't be several seasons behind on your OL.

I've gotten by with an OL that has been merely good, not great, as I rely on a running game; it's operating even better now that I've got a QB with some wheels as well. My distinction, though, has never been between elite and bad linemen, but merely that taking them in the first round was never quite necessary, as there was enough talent in mid-rounds that only performed marginally worse than the elites. Hot garbage, though, I always considered to be hot garbage.

That said, given JDB's comments about the OL, I would change my tune in a heartbeat. In real life, the battle is won in the trenches, and it's time to see that in MFN as well.

As this is a game and depends on codes to work, I still think of my O-line as an insurance
policy, the better they are the better the offense works!

This is my OL is MFN-73. I went from 1-15 (only Banta, a converted TE, at LT) to 8-8 (added Rookie C and RT) and now going into Year 3 have added the LG and RG (Rookies).

Now note that I went from 1-15 to 8-8... and those guys were Rookies so their Block Ratings are no where near the Projected Max. Also note my Offense carried me as my Defense is a train wreck.

Now I pass (literally) on about 80% of my Plays. So teams know what is coming. Yet I went from 1-15 with just Banta at LT, to 8-8 by adding a Rookie C and RT who finished the Season being really good but spent most of the Season getting those Skills up. Perdue is still only a 59 Pass Blocker, and Cox is an 81 which is good but not yet great.

So how did we net +7 Wins? I can only assume the QB I brought in, and Cox/Perdue/Banta keeping him alive.

My Rookies won't be very good early on, but the guys they replaced weren't very good. But they WILL become pretty darn amazing at those Guard spots.

I'm sure you saw a Theme. I converted Banta because he has some Speed and TE Weight, to try to keep up with the Smaller, Faster DE. All my guys have Speed, it's the one area I'm disappointed in Moss at. They all have ACC. They pretty much all have STR. In other words I have some pretty Extreme Athletes who are 280+ and can Pass Block.

They make my Team, without them I don't make the leap in just 1 Season that I did.

And yes, that's Four 1st Round Picks on my OL, in only 3 Seasons (all Drafted in the last 2 Drafts). I value them that highly.

Off topic question but are seasons around 3 months long in real life? (Including offseason)


My first day was October 28, 2016 and we were just heading into game 1 of the regular season (I think) at that time. We are heading into MidWeek of the 2nd round of the playoffs tonight, December 29, 2016. Not sure how many 'real-life' days it takes for "Off Season" things, but......2 months for what I have played so far.
