New players need hope more than anything. If all people can look forward to is getting clobbered by the Old Guard, then there will never be a New Guard. The things you say are vastly superior to the punt block exploit which only works 1 or 2 times a season if I'm lucky, but at least works sometimes. This is no substitute for playing the game the right way, but for anybody who isn't as good as you are (which is just about anybody), it at least gives us some hope.

I do, however, believe that if a GM takes the time out to soak this all in and works hard at learning the game I don't have issue with them capitalizing on the punt block vs. AI, poor punt timing punters (since we're well versed on protecting ourselves from this now) and non-attentive GMs whom aren't playing a punter at the position. I believe someone new or anyone looking to get better can have a little fun and enjoyment with it but when the lights come on, the best strats are out and it's playoff time - the punt blocks needs to dim/fade out.

Let's put this in perspective......A GM that consistently puts winning teams together; such as myself, GrandadB, Smirt211, CJfred, Infinity on Trial, & the list goes on; doesn't need to use the punt block to win.

I use it in a number of my leagues. 4 that I can think of off the top of my head. One person on this list uses the punt block in every single league that he is in.

This individual is more successful than anyone else in this game with this special teams exploit. It works once or twice a game for this individual.

If someone wants to use this to have a fighting chance against some of the more successful GM's, that is fine by me. Especially if it is in a league that I use the play. If someone uses it simply to rack up Championship wins, that's just despicable.

If it only worked against non-punters or punters with poor timing or poor long snappers, that would be a completely different issue, but this is not the case. It works against solid punters behind solid blockers with solid long snappers. And the only glaring point is the speed of the blockers versus the speed of the rushers.
If you have a slow OL/TE/FB on the line blocking for your punter, you are begging to be blocked.

My rusher in Beta was injured in pre-season & hasn't been available to test this theory. I'm quite certain it isn't a theory.

slowtospeak, I don't know how much time you dedicate to this game. If you want assistance in leveling the playing field with some of us veterans, all you have to do is ask. We're really forthcoming with things when asked. It's all about making this game a better experience for everyone.

See if new players need help then really JDB needs to make it where every new user that creates a account gets a welcome to MFN package where they get threads that help them and the Blog because well that did help at times instead of a thread like this where maybe the punt block is a expliot so much in fact there are people who are trying to set up in MFN 1 where either the problem gets looked at or maybe toned down a little like maybe once in a blue moon you see a punt being blocked

i just think what crazyrazor is trying to get across is if you have somethinh like this punt block exploit being used where everyone and their brother is doing it and people can block punts regardless who people have at punter , etc. then really it becomes NOT FUN and probably do more damage than good especially if you have more people leave than stay at MFN or join and play this game.

because really i would think if you have more people leaving than staying or joining i would think is a recipe for this game for not lasting .

I don't care whether it gets stickied. Glad to see the discussion. I've stated that the punt block works better in newer leagues. It will be more difficult to demonstrate in beta ...

I plan to continue the series with the rest of the plays. Not sure what I'm going to do for field goals, though. Has anyone ever blocked one?

I think I recall doing once. I didn't study the play to see "why" it happened. I don't even remember which league it was in. Maybe my guy tackled the holder before the kick. Not sure which happened.

I really don't think this thread needs to be stickied, because punt blocks won't last. One way or another, they are going away. I would prefer that fakes would be made possible, but that's probably too much work. Punt rushers are likely to get nerfed like receivers did.

I think you're sincere about wanting me to be more decent, but you actually need to *show* me the behavior you say you want from me. I have learned from experience to be so ruthless. CR taught me to block punts in the first place, and Grandad seems to do this no matter what.

I learned this behavior from *you.* There are no random victims; instead, there are people learning by example how to play. What people see you *do* is so much more important than what they hear you *say.* The moral lessons are more important than any technical knowledge you might impart.

Right now I think that decency is a crock, and that all of you are hypocrites. My perception is based on experience. If you want to change that perception, you actually need to be better to *me.* You are doing a terrific job of creating more punt blockers. If that's not how you'd like people to play, then you need to start actually being the kinds of players you claim to want.

I just went into my team in NFFL, the one that's been blocking most of the punts, and reset my Special Teams line up.

*****UPDATE*****

I've adjusted my ST line up in NCAA-FCS, NFFL, USF/WFL, & Champions Leagues. There shouldn't be any blocked punts in these leagues as of 10/28/19. I'll make it a point to check these prior to each season to ensure it doesn't happen again.

So is there a way of effectively defending punt blocks? For instance, if I put my best pass, fastest pass blockers on the edge, will that prevent them effectively?

That's the thing I was missing from this post, and I don't care to re-read it.
